Caran d'Ache was established in Geneva in 1924 and is Switzerland's only pen and pencil maker, located close to the French border just outside Geneva. Their origins hail from founder Arnold Schweitzer's purchase of the Ecridor Pencil Factory in 1915. They are today known for their stationery and luxury goods, including wallets and cufflinks.

The historic design of the Ecridor dates back to 1953, and the simple, timeless cross-hatched design has stood the test of time. This Caran d'Ache Ecridor features a plush silver-plated and rhodium-coated hexagonal body embossed with engraved hatched pattern.
