The first Steam Engine to record a speed in excess of 100mph. This record beating locomotive was also famous for offering a non stop service of 392 miles from London to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It utilised a larger tender carrying an extra tonne of coal and a 'secret' corridor to allow the crew to change without stopping. It adopted the name "Flying Scotsman" due to the non-stop, record journey time of only 7 hours and 20 min down from the usual 10 and a half hours.  Designed by American pen company Retro 51, this 'National Railway Museum' Flying Scotsman Numbered Edition Pen is a beautiful writing instrument that celebrates the centenary of the beloved steam engine.
