Pelikan's story originates in 1838 when chemist Carl Hornemann founded a small company to produce ink and water colours. Based out of Hanover, Germany, the Pelikan logo itself is borne from his family's coat of arms and is now synonymous with one of the oldest brands in Germany.

Pelikan are famed for their 1929 invention of the differentiated piston filling mechanism. In the following decades, the company established its international reputation for manufacturing high-quality, plush fountain pens.

This medium-small sized Pelikan fountain pen features a high-quality resin body and cap with gold plated trim. It has the Pelikan piston filling mechanism meaning it must be filled from an ink bottle. The nib is a smooth gold plated stainless-steel nib available in three different widths. It comes packaged in a giftbox with Pelikan's 3-year guarantee.

There is the option to upgrade the standard steel nib to a partially rhodium plated 14c Gold nib from the Souveran M400 fountain pen. Simply select the upgrade option in the nib selection above and then write a note in the width you would like in the 'Shipping Notes' box at the checkout. N.B You will not receive the steel nib in addition. The £50 price is the upgrade cost in lieu of the standard nib.
